Stephen Gough has been jailed for four months by Edinburgh Sheriff Court  after stripping off on a passenger plane. Gough was not present in court during the trial after he refused to put on clothes and was sent to the cells.

The Court heard how the ex-marine spent 20 minutes in an aircrafts' toilet during a flight from Southampton to Edinburgh before emerging with only his socks and hiking boots on.

Despite the fact that the cabin crew admitted no-one had appeared alarmed or fearful and some of the passengers were smiling and giggling, PC David Cameron said it was his impression that some of the passengers were surprised and shocked.

The 47-year-old was found guilty of charges of breach of the peace and public indecency

This latest incident has further diminished the number of naturists who are willing to support Stephen Gough. Some have concluded that there is a risk that any incidental benefit to naturism from his Lands End to John O' Groats walks is now being lost as his increasingly bizarre behaviour subsides towards what appears to be mere publicity-seeking and a strange desire to become a martyr to the Scottish legal system.
